FEMININE GLAMOUR
"It is critical to make your bathroom lovely -- it sets the tone for the daily life," says Florida designer Cheryl Kees Clendenon. With this notion as her driving power, she set out to create a space which was "feminine, youthful, and happy" for a teenaged girl's en suite bath.
GLAMOROUS COPPER
Initially the owners were planning to add a master suite, but they then looked up and recognized that the third-floor loft, with its peaked roof and exposed beams, presented an unusual opportunity. "The very first thing we shopped for was that tub," states Chicago-based designer Julia Buckingham. "It is the crown jewel."
PALM LEAVES
This spa-inspired bathroom by Colleen Bashaw has a Claire bathtub from Signature Hardware, Kohler's Pinstripe fixtures and Cole & Son's Palm Leaves wallpaper.
BRAVE BLACK
An Alexander McQueen skull pillow was the catalyst for this bold en suite bathroom in Chicago's trendy Wicker Park neighborhood. "I wanted play!" Says designer SuzAnn Kletzien, who notes that placing a contemporary, jewelry-inspired chandelier over a claw-foot bath "surely satisfied that need."
NAUTICAL FINISHES
For his Nantucket home's master bathroom, designer Gary McBournie chose Waterworks hardware at unlacquered brass, so that it would tarnish and age. His aim was to tie back all the details to the feeling of the home.
TROPICAL REEF
Background by Fornasetti for Cole & Son adds a playful note to a Bahamian toilet.
